How to judge the high hardness and good wear resistance of cemented carbide strips!

How to choose a special milling cutter for titanium alloy milling?
1、 Wide application scenarios of titanium alloy milling cutters
Titanium alloy has good strength, high temperature stability, corrosion resistance and other excellent characteristics, and has been widely used in the nuclear industry, aerospace, submarine industry, chemical industry and other industries, and has a very broad application prospect in the civil fields such as automobiles, trains, maglev trains, titanium bicycles and high-rise exterior wall decoration.
The application of titanium alloy materials in small components is also becoming increasingly widespread, such as in the consumer electronics 3C industry, metal accessories in mobile phones, and titanium alloy is widely replacing stainless steel 316L materials; In CCGT Insert the medical device industry, titanium alloy TC4 material is widely used in implantable orthopedic medical devices.
Passivation and polishing of titanium alloy milling cutters
After the cutting tool is ground with a grinding wheel, due to the coarse and fine sand particles in the grinding wheel, there will be a certain degree of damage to the cutting edge. The micro notches of different sizes of small chippings and serrations are generally between 0.01 and 0.05mm, which cannot be seen by the naked eye and can only be observed with a 100x magnifying glass. These defects are prone to rapid expansion during tool usage, thereby accelerating tool wear and damage, and affecting cutting performance. However, after the passivation treatment of the cutting edge, fine arcs will appear at the cutting edge, and the edge band will become smooth and flat, greatly reducing defects such as serrations and cracks, achieving the goal of being sharp, sturdy, and durable.
The passivation and polishing of milling cutters include two functions: passivation and polishing. Tool passivation is simply the passivation treatment of the tool edge, also known as edge rounding, which removes burrs from the edge and achieves precise and consistent rounding processing, forming an arc with a diameter of generally 3-8 micrometers from the originally sharp edge.
The cutting groove of the tool should be polished and smooth to reduce the friction coefficient. The smoother the surface of the groove, the better the chip removal, which can achieve higher cutting speed, improve surface quality and Cermet Inserts chip removal performance.
